30.01.07 Can you get fit and have fun at the same time? Action Sports shows how it can be done! The aussies, kiwis and south africans have enjoyed playing indoor action sports (league-based ball games with their own rules, international competitions and arenas) for over 15 years and now the first, and the world's largest, arena is about to open in the UK. Day1 have been appointed by Action Sports UK to launch the brand and develop the marketing and communications strategy for the first UK arena in Bristol. "This project is a great opportunity to bring together some of our key skills. It's an exciting concept which is totally inclusive - with appeal across the board. Action Sports arenas will also help regenerate areas where there are few civic amenities - just as they have in South Africa. And it's a visionary approach on a grand scale" enthuses Day1 Partner, Tina Carter. "We are not only developing the UK brand, but working hands on with the team, developing the Action Sports offering for schools, corporate leagues and community regeneration programmes." The four-month programme will incorporate the development of the Action Sports UK website, an e-newsletter campaign, posters, signing, launch events and media management. "The opening of Action Sports Bristol is just the beginning" comments Greg Van Laun, "we are currently looking for large redundant sheds in areas that need a leg-up in terms of community facilities." "Whilst Action Sports is in business to make a profit, we are also committed to regenerating communities. And of course we are addressing the important issues surrounding health and fitness."
